Caleb slept over at my mom's house Friday night. He stayed in Michelle's bedroom and got a good night's sleep. In the morning, he came out of the room and started going downstairs when he noticed Tasha, my parent's dog, sprawled out on the stairs.

He apparently decided he didn't want to walk by her alone, or maybe thought he couldn't get by since she was taking up the space. Whatever the reason, he returned to the bedroom where he found some crackers in his backpack.

When my mom woke up, she went to get him up. When she opened the door, it bumped against something on the floor. It was Caleb, and at first she thought he was asleep. But in fact, he was lying on the floor on his side, eating his crackers. When she realized this, she asked him if he wanted to go downstairs, to which he replied, "The dog's down there."

He must've felt hungry and been headed to the refrigerator when he was deterred by Tasha, but with Grandma by his side, he went downstairs and Tasha moved out of the way.

I suppose it's good that he thought better of approaching a dog he doesn't really know, but the thought of my Caleb eating crackers for breakfast in his room is both a little sad and pretty funny.
